разнообразные структуры и вещества, присутствующие в цитоплазме про- и эукариот, часть которых активно функционирует, а часть является продуктами клеточного метаболизма, не выделяющимися наружу, а откладывающимися внутри клетки. Отдельные В.в. имеют явно приспособительное значение, а другие служат запасными веществами, отложение которых (особенно у прокариот) происходит в условиях избытка питательных веществ в окружающей среде, а потребление наблюдается, когда организм попадает в условия голодания. У прокариот к числу В.в., выполняющих определенную функцию в фотосинтезе, относятся, напр., хлоросомы (у зеленых бактерий) и фикобилисомы (у цианобактерий); у фототрофных и хемолитотрофных эубактерий содержатся структуры, имеющие форму многогранника с 4—6 сторонами и диаметром 90—500 нм, получившие название карбоксисом, которые, по-видимому, обеспечивают защиту рибулозодифосфаткарбоксилазы от внутриклеточных протеаз. Примером В.в., имеющих приспособительное значение, служат магнитосомы и газовые вакуоли или аэросомы, обнаруженные у водных прокариот. Специфические В.в. появляются в эукариотических клетках при различных патологиях (напр., амилоидные или кристаллоидные структуры в макрофагах при лимфомах, тельца Леви при болезни Паркинсона).см. также внутриклеточные включенияТолковый биотехнологический словарь.
